Can anyone explain this?

So I wake up this worning to find my computer off...when I went to bed it was on. Hit the power button...nothing. Reset...nothing. Re-seat the power cable...nothing. Power strip has power, so, puzzled, I boot up my laptop and check my e-mail. Then I take a shower. Come back, power button again...nothing. Re-seat the power cable again...power button, boots up. WTF was going on?

Maybe you just needed a shower 😉

Sorry, don't know what could cause that problem, maybe something having to do with power management?

Hmmm. Sounds like maybe the Power Cable is having issues. Since it eventually booted up and it seems that you had to play with the Power Cable to have it happen. I'd just replace that. Besides that, who knows.

More likely the power supply, not much can happen to those power cables.

Or, it was in some sort of standby. But it looks new enough if it's "my rig" that that shouldn't happen. Older systems did funny things with power management.

Yeah I agree with Zach. Something to do with Power Cable/Supply. Seems wierd that it worked fine after reseating the power cable so that's why I said it could be that. But a power supply issue is a possibility. Either way it may never happen again. If it becomes a normal thing then its something to worry about. Otherwise its probably just one of those random annoyances that happen from time to time ::shrugs::

<< when in doubt. kick it. then have a beer. then buy a new system. >>

I like the way you think, sir 🙂

Maybe it's just because the fans in the machine shook the power cable a little loose...

*shrug*😀
