Can anyone confirm if the new PS2 models play burnt DVDs?

im pretty sure you need a modchip.
If you dont want to solder anything you can purchase a fliptop case.http://ps2fliptop.net/index.htm
But sometimes they dont always work so i would suggest just getting a messiah chip.

BW, I'm not really concerned with burnt GAMES. I was mainly concerned with movies that are burnt to dvd+/-r.

My current ps2's tray is slowly dying so I need to look into getting a new ps2, preferably the smaller ps2 and GTA:SA.

yes the new ones do as I have modded one with the DMS4 lite chip...I only use Ritek DVD-R's so make sure you use good quality discs
