This is a 32 meg card that came with my dad's dell gx240. he just go a 26" lcd tv with a vga port and is using it as a double duty monitor/tv. now i tested the monitor with my PC radeon 3650, and a friends laptop (Intel IGP) and had no problem with the resoloution, it actually looks pretty good. but when my dad hooked it up all he can his only res options are 1024x768 or 800x600. I am in the process of trying to get him a new slim vid card that might support the res (a radeon 9250) but are there any way to force that vid card to display that res to the monitor?

He is located about an hour and a half away on on a tech saavy scale of 1 to 10 I give him a 3, maybe a 3.5 on a good day lol. Im thinking powerstrip might do it?

any ideas?

Rage Pro never came in 32mb as far as I know. IIRC the Rage 128 / Rage 128 Pro was the card used in those Dells, in 16 or 32mb configurations.

Powerstrip should work I think. I assume this is WinXP?

I was able to get my dad to download poserstrip off the official page, the problem is I do not have the program infront of me and i need to direct him to the proper tab to find the display resoloutions when you click on the powerstrip icon, what option do you click on next to go to the screen resoloution?

Get the software yourself, not to be rude but no one here's going to forum walk you through powerstrip. Get it yourself, open it with your dad and synchronize your steps :)

The problem is the VGA BIOS, which defines mode-setting support for the display driver. Only way around it is to use a display driver that can bypass VGA BIOS or load some custom VGA BIOS extension driver, which is pretty much only done on Linux (even there, it can be buggy).

long story short, I was able to get him to the resoloution settings in powerstrio, and no luck. so I got him a radeon 9250 on it's way from the FS forum :) that should do nicely
