Can an IDE hot swap that uses 40 wire ribbon support ATA-100?

I recently acquired 8 IDE hot swap bays for free 😀 however the ribbon that goes from the removable tray to the drive is only a 40 wire IDE ribbon will this limit my drive speed to ATA-33?
