I never claimed you said that. It was my own example in response to what you did say which was that clock speed didnt matter but core count does. Your g630 performance just means its under powered in either MP or SP. Clock speed matters, as does core count. Take a i5 or i7 down to 2ghz on a 64 player map and I assure you there will be a significant performance hit. Looking at SP performance is about as relavent as a completely different game. Perhaps less so.

Again, its already been proven that an i7 at 2ghz performs exactly the same as it does at stock in bf3. Why can't you understand this?

Seriously, anandtech forums needs an ignore function.

Because you can't understand that's in a single player environment and I'm talking about multiplayer. Are you actually reading the thread or do you just like running off at the mouth and pretending you have a clue? If you think in MP they will perform the same, you're wrong. End of story. You are free to ignore this post and continue on the path of ignorance if you wish, or you can accept facts and learn something. It's your call.

My old i3 2100 played BF3 very well with a oced gtx560 at 1080p,even in 64 player maps it held up very well.

The heat a oced 3770k puts off in a full sized df-85 case with 2 gtx670 cards almost makes me miss that i3 build, that build was a freaking trooper, curse my lust for ultimate performance.

I could easily recommend the i3 2100,even with the stock intel cooler the temps were perfectly cool.

BF3 is hugely GPU dependant. Any 4 core cpu will be more than enough for it, btu the Frostbite 2.0 engine (like all new engines) is heavily reliant on the GPU first and foremost.

Any 4 core CPU isn't more than enough. Unless you're another one of those folks whos going to quote SP performance again?

It wasn't too long ago someone was arguing that an i3 is better than a Thuban for this game. :) It would appear that this game with MP simply likes cores.

but you shouldn't really have problems playing it though. all i play is 64 mp on my FX 4100 with no problems at all with everything set to high with an HD 4870 @1280x720 ?

I use a G620, 8 GB ram and a 4770 512 MB vid card @ 1440x768 (I think) on 24 player or less servers.

Lowest graphics settings and I have not had any issues.

I try to get a server that has under 25 ms ping also.

I believe the i3 will be enough for up to 32 player servers.

I had no problems on a 64 player server when i had mine, even matched up with a overclocked gtx560.

The i3 2100 with a 6870 or gtx560 is just enough to get a good BF3 experience on a budget.

Well, maybe it can play a 64 player Metro but in open maps like Caspian Border it could have a problem. Since I havent used a Core i3 playing BF3 i cant say for sure.

Played pretty well in basically all the maps, even handled well in BC2.

With a super high overclock on the gtx560,i noticed a slight bottleneck suggesting a gtx560ti or higher performance card would be a waste for the processor.

Can you tell us the IQ settings you used to play and give us a clue about the fps you were getting ??

Think at the time i was running a 1600x1200 monitor,i had a i3 2100 thread you could check out in my profile,it had me also using a 6790 prior to the gtx560 and i think without hbao or any aa,i was getting i think about 45 min,55 average on high.

Don't exactly recall what i got with the gtx560 to be honest, all i know it was a upgrade fps wise and performance was good then i sold off the i3 and saw a good fps increase in minimums going to a 2500k.
