Can a TV "wear out" on only one channel? Bizarre problem.... Please help.

I own a POS Curtis Mathes TV that I picked up on Thanksgiving morning a couple of years ago. This morning my wife fired it up to watch the CBS Morning Show, and no sound.

Every other channel had sound. She turned on a TV in another bedroom of the house, and there was sound, so it was not a problem with the signal.

I started to flip the channels, and found thre is sound for a split second on that channel, and then it goes silent.

Any suggestions? Is it new TV time?

Thanks...

It isn't necessarily new tv time - just get a cable box or tune with your vcr. (or buy a vcr)

wierd. never heard of that. some "static" channels like the weather channel or stock channels can burn into a tv, but that's the only "wear" i've seen.

I'm not sure. I'll check that out.

I'd think CBS would have SAP, anyway... but who the hell knows. :) If SAP is on, I'll shut it off.

Otherwise, I will assume the tuner is fvcked, and I'll go pick up a new TV. :)
