Can a store force you to buy a warranty?

With a release day console, its probably a good idea to have a warranty anyway.

Not sure if its legal for them to force you to buy one or not though.

I'll preface this by saying I hate extended warranties, I would never buy one, and I think they are not worth it. However, I don't see why the OP considers this dilemma a "forced" situation. Why don't you just NOT buy the console? If you have a problem with bundling PERIOD (which you *should*), then you would be upset about the game being bundled too. But just because you were going to buy a game anyway, it's ok? Lame. What about bundles at Costco that come with Zelda and Excite Truck? I don't want Excite Truck!

Stores are not making any money on the consoles. so the stores are resorting to bundling with games and accessories in order to turn a profit. Although I don't like that they are including the waranty in the bundle, I can't complain becasue I have to choice not to buy it. And if nobody buys it, then they will be forced to not do it that way.

Its as simple as that.

Talk to Toys R Us corporate and see if they have a problem with it, which they probably will. Your best position to take is to complain about how this bundle wasn't advertised, and the manager sprung it on you after you got there.

That's how people got to Best Buy with the 360 bundles last year.

If the warranty is part of the bundle, and they're only selling the bundle, then, well, yeah.

EDIT: And why anyone wouldn't want a decent warranty on a new console is beyond me.

Playing the odds, and I usualyl get a warrenty from the manufacturer anyways. 30 days is enough for me. If a device is going to fail its usually going to do it real damn soon or way down the road which is outside of most warrenties anyways.
