Can a pickup or SUV be fun to drive? (And still retain its utility and value?)

Well can it?

Hey, you might know that I'm looking for a daily driver to give my little beast a break...and since I move so very often, I'm thinking a truck would be pretty keen. I could load up the back and tow the S on a trailer.

But at the same time, I don't wanna be bored driving every day. So that's where the fun comes in.

It seems like I'm trying to break an iron law here but is there such a truck that satisfies all three criteria?
·Fun to drive? (Quick, manual, nimble, etc.) Wait, I honestly don't know what would make a truck fun
·Has lots of cargo space and can tow
·As much under $10k as possible

Your thoughts?

I have a 97 RAM 1500 and absolutely LOVE the thing. A 2500 would be a bit nicer for towing, but they are much more difficult to fond/more expensive.

it's definitely not going to be easy under 10k....what's a 'S'?

Depending on the weight that determines the truck.

My dad and I was putting together a 1996 Bronco with a 408 in it, about 450/450 HP/TQ (stock is 210/300 or so)....

Should be fun, will tow his Dusky open fisherman (about 6000 lbs loaded) and all the stuff for the boat inside the cargo area (cushions and stuff you don't want wet/left out during travel).

My dad sold the 2001 tundra he owned, bought the bronco cheap for $7000 and is putting about $15k into it.

I love my F250. It's not nimble or quick, but damn it's fun to drive.

Doesn't really hit your 10K price point, though.

Errr...S2000...

Couple things I'm looking at from the mid/early '90s:

Ford F150
Chevy Blazer

Hmmm...maybe the heart of the question is "Is it possible to not be bored by a vehicle that isn't fast?"

Get a V8 Dakota. Mine's a blast to drive and people always comment on how good it handles. You can mod it to be whatever you want, and if you wanna smoke the tires they are happy to oblige.

Yeah...but what also sucks is the absue I'm putting on something that should deifnitely be a weekend car...or at the very least, shouldn't be a dirty, utility vehicle

Not only that but the 351 is a great block and parts are cheap, plus it would be Live Axel so it's more durable for 4x4.

The price for a '98 Dakota R/T is about $11k (used retail) for a club cab, but a standard cab is about $9k.
A '98 w/ 5.2 and 5 speed is $10k for the CC, $8k for the standard.

Not only that, but you'll get the joys of having a new transmission every 50,000 miles.
