Can a pentium 3 take an 80GB HDD?

No, the HD will be bigger than the chip no matter how much you try to open it up. Using drugs in this case won't loosen it up enough so just bit the bullet. You need a mini-ipod hard drive so the cpu can "take it."
 
what do you mean by "take on"? You mean can you install an 80 GB HD on a P3 machine? It's dependant on the OS whether or not the full capacity will be used. Most OS's, yes.
