Can a guy and a girl form a "true" friendship?!

Well, I guess meaning of true friendship may differ in everyone's eyes. I'm talking about the most genuine friendship. No sexual thoughts or appeals, unconditional, 100% trust, unchanging, ever-lasting, no second thoughts, no attractions, and etc. Could they?

I don't think it's possible. There's always gonna be a slight curiosity, if even briefly. Unless the demographics are WAAAY apart from each other. Like, I think an 18 y/o guy could befriend a 75 y/o woman and not have to worry about... you know. Unless the 18 y/o in question is that kid from my HS who was arrested for attempting to rape an 89 y/o woman as she slept. The woman succeeded in fighting him off and he quickly earned the nickname, Geyser Pleaser.

I dont think it's possible. Human are always bounded to the human nature. It is nature to see them as potential mates as long as our factory is functioning.

The kid from your school has sex with hot springs? Damn.

Yes to Title, No to post. Your conditions can never be met, nevertheless a True Friendship between Male/Female and without Sex/(attempts to get some) can certainly exist. Thoughts are bound to happen, but Thoughts always do.

I think a girl can form a true friendship with a guy but a guy can't. Lets face it, the only reason most guys befriend a female is because he wants to ****** her. He then claims to be her friend because he has fallen into the friends zone even though he secretly wants to ****** her.

It is possible, but it takes a lot of work and maturity.
If you think otherwise, then you value physical attraction way too much.

Bingo.

It just takes maturity to get past those silly feelings. If you value the friendship over that, no worries.

In some cases, it wouldn't be a bad thing if they became more than friends, but if the guy is secretly wishing for that and only pursuing the friendship for that reason, he isn't really a friend.

its very possible.

i have two of these right now.

the key is....to "hook up" early on when you meet....no sex.....

once thats out of the way and you both realized it wasnt there, its a lot easier.

nope, see two-ladder theory

For it to work, I think both parties need to make sure they do not have any sexual feelings or attraction towards one another. For example, my best friend's wife. We are friends and we talk, but I don't think of her in any sexual way at all.

Yes, definitely. Although I don't agree that thoughts won't ever happen ... because it is human nature that they will. That said, I have some brilliant, attractive female friends that won't ever go further than friends (notwithstanding the fact that I'm already married 😛). Most of them pre-date my marriage.
