Can a GPU do this?

I got a Full HD (1920x1080) monitor for one of my old computers running Win XP, with no dedicated GPU

Now the problem seems to be that my motherboard does not support this resolution.

If I were to add a GPU which support this resolution, will I be able to use it on the monitor?

Thanks for looking!

What graphics does the machine have now? There's always the chance that a driver update might give you what you need. It may be as simple as adding a custom resolution.

Worst case yes installing a new video card would allow access to the monitor's native resolution.

It's a 4-5 year old ECS P4M800PRO-M motherboard

The newest BIOS did add support for 16:9 resolution but not enough to go Full HD

I guess will pick up a second hand GPU as you guys suggested and will keep the "XP driver" thing in mind 🙂

Remember, your board only supports AGP and PCI, not PCI Express.
