Can a dog taking out a crow get sick?

My puppie, a 6 month old Mini Danshund (8 lbs) just caught a small crow in our back yard and had it in her mouth chewing it pretty good. The crow is alive and bloody.
Does anyone know if my dog can get sick? I know they (crows) carry the West Nile virus. Or should I just swallow my dumb pride and call the vet?

Do you call the vet when your cats eats a mouse, too?

People are so paraniod.

EDIT: Hmm, now that I see your dog is an 8lb dachshund, there's no way in hell that thing caught a healthy bird. Still, I wouldn't worry about it if your dog doesn't develop any symptoms.

LOL, thats right. I didn't see if she caught it but I did see her with it in her mouth. Yes, I may be paraniod but the reason being that crows die when bitten by mosquitoes which have the virus, and so do people. I am clueless but I will call the vet. I bet that they laugh at me as you all are once they hang up the phone. :)

UPDATE:

Haha, shows how dumb I am when it comes to birds. It is a Black Bird, has a yellowish beak. So it is a Black Bird. The vet told me this so I am glad I called because I gained some knowledge today. She stated if it was a Crow that the Town would come and get it for the State to test it for West Nile Virus, and why, because a dog cannot catch a healthy Crow, only a sickly one. So thanks for the laughs and comments. ;)

A crow is like 5 times bigger than a blackbird. How did you mess that one up?

Hey, I was just going to tell you that, but your vet got to you first, oh well. Also, if its a raven, you better watch out. Those things eat roadkill and can carry lots of diseases.

If you didn't embarass your poor dog, he wouldn't have to eat crow.

Yes, because we all have the intimate knowledge of avians that you apparently have, notfred. I can tell a cardinal from a bluejay from a robin, but that's about it. I see a black bird, I think crow.
