Can a Dell Inspiron B130/1300 work with 1 X 1GB Ram?

I am upgrading a friend's Dell Inspiron B130/1300 laptop to 1GB of Ram. Dell states that the maximum amount of Ram for this model is 1GB. I purchased a 1GB stick because it was cheaper than 512 X 2. Now I am wondering if the only way to reach the 1GB maximum is by having both slots taken up by 512MB sticks. Does anyone know if it matters wheather the 1GB is by 1 stick or by 512 X 2?

It should be fine with 1x 1 GB sticks, if in doubt, read the dell manuals on their support page, they are very detailed.
