Can a dead video card still do Phsyx

Ok I got a leak on the 8800 and it died. However Im thinking its the signal connection its unable to throw graphics on screen. The nexxt morning it came on I saw post went to windows and frooze with garbage on screen. Now its been dry for couple days.....

I want to put that card in , but the way Im setup its a pain,, would have to take other video card out then put them in. Ever since the leak Im shakey a bit soo I dont wanna touch something that is not broken.

Do you guys think if I put the 8800 in and choose it as phsyx in nvpanel that it will work and the GPU will do phsyx , RMAing is messed up now cant do dat cuz the sticker came off cuz of the coolant spill.

What do you guys think, Can the 8800 still be found in windows and run as phsyx processor. Thanks and sorry if this is sorta a dumb message but ya I just dont wanna touch my comp right now,, and chill that its workin, If I get plenty of people to say it will work with phsyx and GPU is not dead then I will try it. Thanks

I'd worry about it killing the motherboard, CPU, RAM and your new video card if things go badly enough -- maybe the card shorts the mobo, then the mobo fries everything else.

I'm not saying I know for sure that could happen, but for the price of buying a used but working 8800/9800 to use instead I wouldn't want to risk it myself.

RMA? What manufacturer covers submersion under warranty?

That said, lots of electronics start working again after they dry out. I can't tell you the number of times my wifes cell phone has been soaked and started working again the next day.

i sent my 6th gen nano through the wash 3 times and it stills works 🙂

Im gonna listen to you Dave Simmons. Im not going to risk it,, if they RMA it then awesome, if not then I will buy another 8800 and put it as phsyx card. Thanks gg and gl,

You're a tool. Why would you RMA a card that has been damaged by liquid? That's straight up fraud. Plus, you should know that Thermaltake makes terrible liquid cooling system. They're bound to leak.

Get a real water cooling system and it won't leak. Hell get a $50 air cooler and you'd have better temps with no threat of a leak.

The tube ripped,, Thermaltake is the best relax. Ive had 2 leaks in 5 years. Fixed the tube it was cut. Im fine with my rig.

My pump is 500 liter per hour as well... Thank you no need to go to dungeon den and stupid name companies I only trust Thermaltake. Thank you

Keeps my temps 23c idle and 40's C on load. Thermaltake pownz Im happy! You stick with your water cooling Ill stick with mine Im perfectly happy. for 5 + years going strong. 2 leaks cuz of tube cut, and your telling me to get a real water cooling,, Whats fake about Thermaltake, My temp is 40's c full load @ 1.464 voltage. Thank you...

I think jlooo's point is that you installed a 3rd party watercooling system that happened to fail and break your card. The card itself wasn't defective.

You should ask Thermaltake to replace the card, not the video card manufacturer.

The card was not defective (which is what warranties cover) since it was not advertised to be waterproof.

Even if it doesn't work the PhysX will be offloaded to your CPU and you will have better performance anyway. gl

LOL funny,,

SHAQ thanks for your input well appreciated. Yes I put CPU in nvpanel for phsyx

guess I will have to buy another 8800 GT or 9800 GT for dedicated phsyx,,, sighs

Oh wow RavenSEAL , thanks brother for your help... ya isnt that dual GPU right... I mean I wanna completly off load from CPU and main video card but yet do phsyx really fast.

Your temps mean nothing without proof of ambient combined with a screenshot of your load temps, just sayin.

I don't know why you'd trust a company that obviously can't make a plastic tube durable enough to have water run through it.

software interpretation of jammed signals won't respond well with the OS, and BIOS may likely not like the reports.

graphics cards with embedded physics processor solutions are meant to be uniform in design, with the entire daughter card add-on itself, or the graphcis drivers will not be efficient.

considering how some defective chips might give terrible performance, I'm guessing if it does work, it may not work for very long, as detioration rates with bad computer chip samples tend to accelerate damage on itself and likely other components it may be connected to.

keep in mind, the pci-express bridge does not have over-voltage protection from all daughter card add-ons.

You were already told that RMA'ing that card is RMA fraud. Do you need to be told again and have another thread closed?
