Can a DC fuse be used in an AC cricuit?

I know it's unwise to use an AC fuse in a DC circuit. Is it bad to use a DC fuse in an AC circuit?

Yes. Provided that the DC voltage rating of the fuse is higher than the peak voltage of the AC waveform (RMS voltage * 1.4), and that the burst current rating of the fuse is greater than the prospective short circuit current of the supply.
