Can a cop pull over another cop?

You would because you are looking at it from outside. Let say, one day an officer pulls over a car and driver open fires on the officer. Officer radios shoot fire need back up. Just happen that a unit from another department is 3 min from the officer were as the officer from his own department is 10 min away. This cop remembers that an officer from your department gave his good friend who is a cop a ticket for going 15 mph over speed limit. So the officer doesn?t respond to the call. Were as if that cop didn't get a ticket he would responded and the office would have a back up in 3 min instead of having to wait 10 min for back up to show up

So b/c one officer is mad that someone from his department got a ticket from another department he would potentially let the other cop die in a shoot out b/c he doesn't want to provide backup?!?! Ya, a speeding ticket is the same as backing up a fellow officer of the law in a potentially fatal shoot out....good analogy.

basically because he is piseed he will let your units responde and will claim that when he the radio call came he was about 15 min away from you.

Generally, no.

I dated an asshole Orange County cop/investigator for awhile, and he explained there's an unwritten rule amongst almost all cops... you just don't pull over/ticket other cops.

He was speeding in his 350z on the way to Vegas... got pulled over for doing 115 in a 65, flashed his badge, exchanged a "nudge nudge wink wink" with the officer, and they shook hands and he pulled away, no sweat.

Cops I know blow through red lights and stop signs. They don't give a flying freak. Even a PBA or LBA card can get a non cop off a ticket. It has worked for me a few times ~ " yeah, my uncle is a cop at the 44 in the Bronx...." and that saved me a ticket w/points for makin an illegal left turn on B'way and 72nd. Its a courtasy that they do.

He didn't believe here that she was married to a LAPD officer. LA County Sheriff != LAPD for one thing. You keep switching those around like they're synonyms. Two completely different departments with different duties and areas of jurasdiction. THe only thing they have in common is upholding the law.

I've heard of county cops pulling over some other departments local cops... in their squad cars... because of local police trying to overstep their boundry in the area.

Sure. Several years ago in the Flint, Michigan area we had a State Trooper pull over a local/city cop for doing 120MPH on the expressway just for kicks. He was arrested and later fired, IIRC.

Yes they can. They might get more leeway than the average citizen, but they CAN be pulled over.

This goes WAY the fvck too far in Orlando where they have insanely high ticket quotas and pull over other emergency vehicles. I've seen an ambulance pulled over for a ticket before. Rumor has it the reason they go dirt slow with the siren on is because the siren attracts attention increasing the odds of a ticket.

I remember replying to a similar post yesterady.....
Unlike in the movies, they don't always have their sirens blaring and lights on when responding to a call.
When a silent alarm is tripped, they don't want to advertise to the bad guys "we're coming"... they want to get there in a hurry, without tipping off the perpetrators that they're on the way. Of course, this lacks some of the drama.

Where on earth do you think they're going when the go through redlights? Is it going to make their 8 hour shift go by any quicker? Blue light special on donuts, next 10 minutes only? If they're going somewhere, I'm happy to know they're getting there a little quicker. And, I don't want another cop pulling over the cop responding to my house for driving there too quickly.
