Well, at least San Fransisco worries about the big picture.

Here the GOP worries about all those abused stem cells.

While San Fran worries about things more substantial like an entire male's for skin.
 
There's always a need for some city to be the standard bearer for stupidity so the rest can learn from it. That's SF's role.

Male circumcision is not in the same league as female circumcision. So much so in-fact, they should have different words for the "procedures." The latter is certainly mutilation.

I suspect this is discrimination against Muslims in disguise. Similar to how European countries attempt to ban burqas.

When those who claim to have moral principals start practicing, they can then preach it to the rest of the sinners out there.

Until then, you can continue letting:
- your daughters be whores before marriage
- abandon your wife who waited for you, as you rotted as a POW, after she gets into a car accident
- practice witchcraft
- abuse various substances; pain killers, alcohol, etc
- pin the fault of a raping of an 11 year old,... on the 11 year old

If I read the article correctly they are only proposing ban on children before 18. Once the kid becomes an adult he can chop off his foreskin if he chooses so. I'm not seeing much of a discrimination here.

There are varying degrees of female circumcision, some more severe than others. ALL forms are banned in the US, even genital "pricking" to my knowledge.

I support SF in this. Routine male infant circumcision is an outdated and unnecessary practice that needs to end.

There's actually a range of types of female circumcision, cutting off the forskin being comparable to "Type IIa, removal of the labia minora only."

Rather, it refers to the fact that you can't use your foreskin afterwords, much like women can't use their labia and/or clitoris anymore after female genital mutilation.

That's one of the many things Islam adopted from the Bible, namely Leviticus 19:28. Furthermore, as the Wiki article you linked says:

Mutilation or maiming is an act of physical injury that degrades the appearance or function of any living body, usually without causing death.

Granted, whether a tattoo degrades or enhances the appearance of one's skin is a matter of opinion, but for those on the former side of the argument tattooing does constitute a form of mutilation.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, and such body modifications should only be allowed at the discretion of the individuals themselves. Granted, I'm sure Oprah Winfrey and everyone else who makes big bucks of the foreskin harvest would prefer to keep their gravy train of infant mutilation rolling.

I was circumcised at birth, and frankly I'm sensitive enough when it comes to sex. If I don't pace myself I can easily be done in under a minute. If I had extra foreskin bumping up the sensitivity I'd be even worse off. It's also more sanitary.

So circumcision actually increased my quality of life, mutilation my ass. Go find something else to start a circle-jerk crusade about; oh and block traffic dressed up as a giant penis while you're at it. That'll definitely bring loads of people over to your side. 🙄
