Hi, my current system specs are:

Celeron 366@413Mhz
FIC KA-6100 Via chipset mobo
96 MB PC-100 RAM
S3 Virge 4MB video card
other 4MB 2d video card for 2ndary monitor - partially broken
Onboard sound
33.6k modem
network card
40x CD drive
6GB HD
17" screen and 15" screen
and I am currently using it for a web surfing box however, parenets want to upgrade it into a DVD machine and I get a new computer.

I was looking at adding a Radeon VE along with a Abit AU-10 (no SB live issues plus it comes with a remote control) as well as a 56 k modem and a DVD/CDR combo drive and probably a cheap 40GB 5400rpm HD as well.

My Question is do I also need a processor upgrade or RAM upgrade for it to run DVD's smoothly?

The system should be easily capable of playing DVD's smoothly. With a card with the level of hardware DVD playback capability as the Radeon VE then you could quite easily make due with a Celeron @ 300MHz if need be.

Sure, just use WinDVD 3.0 or powerDVD and see how she flies.
