can a call to the police be anonymous?

Say someone called to report drunk underaged girls, a party, or both.. Could the call be made anonymously without the said parties knowing who reported them?

If you called from a payphone, so they couldn't trace it to your house, and then refused to give your name, it would be!

Will a *67 from the celly make it anonymous? I dont care if the police know that I called, I care if the people I'm reporting know.

Yes. At my department we have something called "Crimestoppers," which is a completely anonymous tip line. Rewards are offered for tips that lead to convictions.

those girls got ya wussy-whipped, didn't they?

why would you do that, what if you were at a party and someone did that, even if your not drinking you will most likely get in trouble...do you have $300 to just throw away? think about that first

A friend of mine called that once. Unfortunately they just told him to call the local PD to report the violation (it had nothing to do with underage drinking). I never found out why they couldn't have handeled it through Crimestoppers.

Only assholes report people for drinking underage...

Report them if they are driving or causing a nuissance. Them merely being drunk is a freedom they get for being in the USA. The law just happens to be wrong in this respect.
