can a 97accord I4 take a turbo?

Yeah. Its 9.1:1 compression so it'll handle mild boost fairly easily. You *should* be able to use an early DSM manifold if you're going the cheap route. The holes for the studs just have to be redrilled. H22 swap may come out to be about the same cost, however.

wondering thats all. automatic too

I think it can but I am not much of a car expert ... I know friends that have turbo charged civics, not sure if it is stock motor though. 😕

Any car can take a turbo.

That said, don't add one to an automatic accord - turbos and automatic transmissions made for lower HP just don't work well together. It's a good was to grenade your engine if you f'ck it up. It's obvious that you're a n00b, so just stay away from turbos before you cause some irreparable harm to your engine.

If you really want to upgrade your car, swap the engine from a prelude into it.

No, your transmission is what will go.

what are you talking about? It has a torque converter already, _because_ it's an automatic.

waste of money

I agree. Spend some money on a real car, instead of trying to make an econobox fast (well, unless you want to swap out the engine).

Well, I've thought about this for a while now, but can a V-6 Accord Coupe ('99) be turboed?

Not easily. No room. And darnit I can't find a number on the compression ratio but I'm guessing its about 9.5:1. Its not a popular engine to mod.
