That is horrible. It happend when I was in college too. My campus only has about 1200 students so most people knew who he was (I worked with him). Very sad.

Suicide is a long-term solution to a short-term problem.

Actually in Buddhism there is no temporal measure between one life and the next which is just another continuation of suffering, so its an extremely short term solution to long term problem.

they did a favor for the gene pool

ok, so you wont be mad at me if someone close to you(parents or siblings) dies and i point and laugh?

think about his family you fvking ass

Nobody is pointing at him and laughing. WE do feel sorry for his family. But Maybe he should have thought about his family before he did something so wrong.

go back and reread half of the post in here and show me where people feel sorry for his family.

regardless of the way he died, RIP

okay well if he was so smart and not a coward, how come he killed himself?

i mean yes its a sad event, but i just feel sad for the parents and friends and family of this kid, because now they are going to have to go through all of the pain, while he took the easy way out.

you are right. Some of us are not so weak that we try to take the easy way out. Instead we prefer to work out the problems we have.

We understand what suicide does to friends, family and the people that find us. We understand that NO matter how bad he had that it can/will get better with time.

No we don't know how bad he was off. But i can guarantee that many others have had it as bad or worse and didn't decide to be a loser and blow there head off.

I just feel sorry for his family/friends.

that good enough?

I do consider this guy a loser. He has put his friends/family/loved ones through hell. why? because he didn't want to continue with life. whhaaa whaaa! most people here have had a hard life and major dispointments.

The engineering school is pretty well known locally, the rest less so.

I have to admit though, the undergrad program was never THAT hard.

Hopefully it wasnt because of the election, that would have been a terrible reason to go out

hmm what are some good reasons?

only thing i can think of is having a terminal desise that is very painfull. such as digenitive bone desise (sp? hmm is that the right one?). thats sopposed to be terminal and very very painfull.

Oh, and my next door neighbor (couple years older than me) killed himself when he was around 25. Shot in the head way out in the woods. Took like a week to find him. His brother and ex-girlfriend found him, and the brother STAYED while the girlfriend went to get help. Freaky! I wouldn't want to sit around with a dead sibling. Lucky he didn't freak out and grab the gun and do himself or something!

Yes, it was over the ex-girlfriend, but he wasn't mentally all there at the end, plus other factors like losing job, etc. Found food wrappers in his car. Last meal of McDonald's cheeseburger and milkshake. Not sure what killed him, the bullet or the burger.

/me pulls up a lawnchair and cracks open a beer...
yeah well unless he has no friends or family, he hurt a lot people. Selfish.

You do have a point there... I have been to two suicide funerals and I personally never want to go to another one. One of the worst experiences I ever had.

One of my friends left a 5 year old kid after blowing his brains out with a shotgun.

Both suicides were alcohol and drug related.

trust me, i understand your point completely but there are still others that could give two shits about him or his family, im not trying to start an argument with you waggy, just making a point as much as you are.

What a waste? He should have just joined the military and do something good and die like a true hero...or do as Fausto would..."slow but painless suicide by masturbation."

Tough call, was there gunpowder on his hands ? Freaky indeed.

holy crap. I think this is just about the most insensitive thing i've ever read on these forums. Sorry if we don't all go to Harvard.

poor EEs.

There is an EE in SLEEP, but there is no SLEEP in EE.

I guess the lack of sleep gets to them...

Seriously, they must be under some serious pressure, whether it be from family or self imposed. Life is too precious to waste on blowing your head off because you are doing poorly as a freshman... change majors, or suck up the bad grades. Work isn't everything.

(This is coming from a PhD candidate in chemical engineering, so I know what difficult coursework is...)

yup. our fall semester started with a freshman girl shooting herself with a shotgun, only three weeks into school. with the depression rate in this school nearly topping the charts, i dunno why our suicide rate is so low

I guess some people deserve a little more credit than you give them (the ones that don't off themselves).
