What do you guys think of taking beef jerky into bear country. Is it any better/worse than taking other forms of food? I am thinking it would be easier to have beef jerky as the majority of my food for weekend trips.
No more dangerous than any other food but, boring! Truly, variety is a huge boost for camping/hiking trips.
I agree. You've got to keep your calorie intake up. During and after a long hike not everybody is hungry. You want to make sure the food is something that you're going to want to eat. A whole day or two on jerky and you'll be hating it. Anyways, only eating dehydrated protein for a day or two might upset your digestive system. The last thing you want is to be stopped up or going like crazy when you're nowhere near a bathroom.
