Going camping with my buddies tomorrow and am just making some last minute preparations. It's not full blown camping, just sleeping in tents at a campsite by the lake, with facilities a couple of miles down the road (showers, bathrooms, etc).

Just wondering if there was anything you found extremely useful or wish you had remembered to bring when you went camping.

EDIT: Heading out on the road now. Any further advice will be reserved for future camping trips. Thanks to all that contributed.

Bring a multi-tool or a swiss army knife, just in case. Also, bring your own toilet paper, mosquito repellent, alcohol, and a music player for night time camp fires.

A good air mattress is always a fine idea unless you have to hike it in.

bag of cotton balls soaked in vasoline.

They will start a fire in almost any conditions.

Beer, water (Plenty of it), toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, papertowels, TP, lighters (Bring a few), strike anywhere matches, flashlight, extra clothes, chairs, plastic silverware, paper plates, tongs, wood, music, extra batteries, tent, pillow, blankets or sleeping bags. Those are the essentials. Of course don't forget your food. Also, deet might be a necessity this time of year. A hat.
