Casio EXILIM EX-Z750

Why 7MP? Because you can get a photo and chop off 30% around the edge if someone is no good at lining up a shot.

Also, you can zoom in like hell and make out individual hairs on someones face when you take a decent photo from maybe 5 feet away. Everyone needs 7MP.

When I buy another camera it will be based on other things than megapixels.

I have a Canon A80, and am pretty disappointed with it's low light capability, and how long it takes to focus and take the picture. Sometimes it doesn't focus at all.

I never use it on the highest resolution, because that's just a waste of memory. It's just way overkill. Prints come out great from the medium resolution setting.

OP sounds like he'd do fine with a regular P&S, so let's assume that he'd be okay with a canon SD series camera (400, 450?, 500).

there. do some research, doma, and i think you'll be happy. it's as compact as cameras go nowadays without sacrificing quality (read: casio exilim).
