Same here. I bought the 17-40mm F/4.0L Canon lens.
That 24-70 is a big heavy sucker. I used it primarily on my film camera and it takes very nice pictures. I used it a few times at the Long Beach Grand Prix down in the pits and shot some really nice pictures with it. I'm not crazy about the size of the thing and it binds a bit at the top end of the zoom. The autofocus isn't as fast or as quiet as the Canon either.
I think my next lens will be the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens and then maybe the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L. Primes might be a better choice than the latter though.
