Camera purchasing advice

fuji's superCCD sensor > S5's sensor
but the fuji's gonna be a bigger and heavier camera. Manual focus rings are nice though.

go play with both before deciding.

Yes, but the canon has image stabilization. Do you think thats worth it?
 
not in my opinion. I have a Canon S3IS (S5's older brother) and i dont really see the benefit of IS on wide angle. There may be some benefit in low light, but I actually prefer my gf's Fuji F31fd that has the super CCD sensor (not sure if it's the same exact sensor as S9600) for low light shots. And that's a compact P&S cam. Also Fuji's sensor has a lot more dynamic range than the Canon's.
