What's the difference between the Canon A95 and the SD400??

They both seem to be 5.0 MP, 3x Optical, 4x Digital ....

What justifies the $150 (CAN) price difference??

What about the different memory types? Compact flash in the A95 and SD in the SD400??

What are their pros/cons?

Again, thanks for the help as I really am a newbie in this area.

No big difference really. It used to be that CF was much more widespread, but SD has really taken off lately with some manufacturers switching over completely (there's one recent that I can't quite place right now). They are now comparably priced when you consider speed. SD is smaller than CF which can be an advantage (or a disadvantage -- easier to lose them!). CF does have higher top capacity, but do you really need 4-8 GB of storage (that's comparing Sandisk's products)??

One consideration might be if you have any other devices which use the memory. My iPAQ uses SD so I'd be inclined to get that for interchangeability (my MP3 player uses it as well). It seems like SD is used for more devices like that than CF is except for certain lines of PDAs (Palms use CF? can't remember). Not scientific evidence, just my impression.

All your questions answered.

Smaller cameras sacrifice quality by using smaller sensors and lenses, but they are much more portable.
