Camera for a beginner?

I am looking for a decent digital camera that is simple and easy to use for my mom. Any recommendations? All I want is it to take sharp pictures, and be decent quality. I don't need it to have a lot of options because my mom won't even be able to use them.
 
Lots of suggestions in previous threads. The most popular small point and shoot cameras seem to be the Canon SD series, which will be about $200-$300. Simple, easy to use, large screen, few buttons, and IS all make for great pictures!
