Camcorder question

I am going to be using my camcorder at my Aunt's wedding and Ive already been there to check it out. There are these lights that send blueish lines(lines can only be seen through the camcorder) down to the gound and produce a lot of glare. My question is if I were to get a filter, would this get rid of the lines/glare?

EDIT: Please also post of any camcorder forums/websites. Hopefully need to find an awnser to this by tomorrow morning.
 
probably a circular polarized filter....take your camera to best buy and see if their filters fit the threads on your camcorder...
 
Sounds like vertical smear - which is caused by a flaw in the CCD (or simply poor design of CCD). There is not a whole lot you can do except avoid shooting into the light...a polarizing filter may help in that it will deintensify the light coming into the lens, but it may not solve the problem as it is sometimes related to the general contrast of the scene.

EDIT: I just found a bunch of posts here about vertical smear, maybe something there would help...
