camcorder for < $500 -- suggestions?

Sony TRV-22. Retail $699. I'm sure you'll be able to find something in the $500 range if you shop online. Reviews and comments on here. Good luck. It so happened that I was researching for a camcorder last week so I'll leave the rest for your friend to decide.

I have a Panasonic PV-DC252 and it works well. Had it for about 10 months now, no problems with it at all. I don't think it's dropped to under $500 yet but the Panasonic PV-DC152 is under $500 i think. As far as I know, the only difference between the 252 and the 152 is that the 252 has the ability to take still photo's and store them on a SD Disk. Otherwise i think they're exactly the same. I would suggest that you're friend heads down to BestBuys or Circuit City and check out the camera's they have there to see what he wants in a camera. If he finds one he likes at one of those stores, he'll probably be able to find it for cheaper online snf hopefully for under his $500 limit. Well good luck to your friend hope he finds a good camera.

That camera looks pretty good, Sony makes some really nice cameras. It has that 0 lux thing too, though I've never tried it, I heard it works well. Supposed to be able to film in complete darkness. The larger screen is also a plus. If you're friend can afford it, I'd say be sure to check this camera out.
