15k diff from bottom to top seems a little high.

The Corvette starts less then the Mustang went for.

A Mustang GT, Challenger R/T, and Camaro SS test would be closer. The Camaro doesn't have a trim level high enough to jack the MSRP up another $10k (poor lost Z28!)

Because they're obviously testing the highest trim levels of each "pony" car. The price is definitely not fair but it's about testing the top of the line versions of each one.

Hah, it's like a contest between two 9mms and a .454 Casull.

Not fair at all, but interesting. The Camaro would do a ton better if it didn't weigh as much as my balls. SRT8 is an abomination.

Car and Driver is stupid. They had a cheap speed comparison and gave the top spot to an RSX because it had the nicest interior but was the slowest of all the cars. That doesn't sound like cheap speed to me.

I don't remember reading that article, but I do remember a comparo back in 2003 or 2004 with a SentraSE-R Focus SVT, Mazdaspeed Protege and Neon SRT-4 and the SRT-4 won even though it had by far the worst interior and ride, but because it was incredibly fast.

I think the point is, meh, with something ass subjective as car reviews, take it with a grain of salt for what it's worth.

I like car and driver because they at least admit their bias, and you can read through it. Lately, there has been a number of tests where I thought the conclusion was dumb.

They're testing top of the line for all three cars. Not fair when you look at the prices, but you get to see how the cream of the crop muscle / pony cars perform against one another.
