Even though my thread has been hijacked , I thought I would just let you guys know I put a deposit on a 35th Aniv. Camaro T-Top Coupe earlier today, and I will be picking it up Thursday!

More ignorance. The 1.8T is an exceptional engine. 1.8 liters of displacement, proven to handle 400 crank hp without any internal upgrades. Lessee, 5.7 liters of displacment proven to handle at least 700 hp. I think that's a pretty even hp/liter comparison.
Listen SsZero, if you want to sound like a car fanatic, then learn to like CARS, not just some vehicle that fits a narrow minded view you have of what ALL cars should be. Broaden your horizons. I love VW/Audi's for their refined luxury combined with enjoyable off-the-floor driving experience. I also enjoy the raw power that comes from a hunking V8 with rear wheel drive. Maybe when you mature a little you'll learn to appreciate both.

How much of the New Beetle and Audi TT are interchangeable? Something to the order of 60%...I'd say they are similar enough. How many Lexus don't have a cousin in Toyota, the RX300 SUV isn't a raised Camry, is it? They are not upscale, they are just overpriced to make people feel better about unloading money...think about it, why would them smart american consumers pay $50K for a "toyota"...no, it can't be a toyota...because cars like Corolla also share that nameplate. Lexus, Acura, Infiniti and Audi were all created for the american market to make the consumers feel like they were getting something special. There is no Lexus in Japan. A toyota is a toyota, a nissan is a nissan.

How about a Pontiac Grand AM GT? That car is a great value for about $20K...not many import cars competitive with that car in that price range...especially when you break down the features, performance, etc.

I am not exaggerating...go ask the guy on the audi forums...he seems to be a frequent poster. Anyway, fast is fast, slow is slow. It looks like you are saying, "Well, it is fast for an Audi". I'm talking about fast using a global basis of comparison, not a basis local to a type of car. Considering that this is a thread about muscle cars and performance, I really don't know why we are even talking about audis in the first place.

Specific output again? For the life of me I don't know why people with slow cars are so quick to bring that up as if it proves anything. The fact of the matter is a 5.7L V8 making 700 HP is going to leave the 1.8turd in the dust. I4 engines are a very old and cheap design...without some kind of forced induction, the are nothing special...unless the car they are powering is on a strict diet.

I never said I wanted to sound like anything. I am fascinated by fast cars and I enjoy making fun of people who think they have a fast car but don't. You're opinion of luxury is subjective, furthermore it has nothing to do with performance. This is thread is for people who want to talk about raw power...not how much you can blow dinky I4.

Oh, another ricer...you do know that the inline engine design is quite a bit older than the V engine design...and what you consider "high tech" I4 is nothing more than crutches put in place to squeeze every last bit of power from the engine. And no, V8s are V8s...they do not have "4 extra cylinders"...otherwise, your engine has 1/2 the cylinders and 1/2 the weight...so you should be just as fast. haha...ricers are everywhere on here!!

I'm not comparing an Audi to a Grand am...how many $20K Audis are there? Looks like you didn't know that the beetle and TT were so interchangeble. I'd suggest you refrain from replying more, unless you actually know what you are talking about. And for someone who has only owned VWs for 17 years or whatever, you sure think you have a "diverse" sense of cars. Really, you don't get the feel for a car from a 10 minute test drive.

The base Camaro V6 was not meant to be a racer. It was simply meant for the daddys girls who wanted the name. The 3.8, when tuned, can haul some SERIOUS ass, but most guys who get a camaro just want the LS1 anyways.
