Calling the cops on noise neighbors...

My neighborhood used to be a quiet place, with no crime. Then, THEY moved in.... my neighbors across the street. They've already gotten into HUGE shouting matches with both houses on each sides of their house for all the noise and general mayhem they cause around the neighborhood. Their kids are out screaming and yelling at 12-1am. Just tonight they were setting off fireworks at 12:30am. It was young kids too because I could hear them screaming and laughing.

I called the State Troopers and as I was giving the lady my info on the phone, an artillery shell went off in the background, so she knows I wasn't pranking or anything. The problem is that is has seemingly stopped. That means when the cops come by they won't hear anything, therefore they won't do anything about it.

I've had to call the cops several times on them about their kids driving all the dogs in the neighborhood nuts (hence more noise created) with fireworks and other loud noises (motor bikes, snow mobiles, etc.) in the wee hours of the morning. But they never seem to make the noises when the cops come by...

Will the state troopers ever doing anything or do they have to hear the disturbance themselves? Does calling the cops do any good?

Hell no, maybe if it was something that only happened every once in a while. This happens every few nights. Some people work for a living and need to get up in the morning.

Heh, MichaelD is at least responsible about his noise. He doesen't do it at 12-1AM...

Just keep complaining. I imagine they'll eventually have a cop stake it out, instead of just sending one whenever there is a complaint.. and they'll be caught.

In the meantime, make their lives hell. Maybe they'll move. 😉

Throw a pinyata (sp?) in their driveway, filled with tonnes of fireworks and lite it when the kids are out. They'll learn not to fvck with their neightboors when their fingers are gone 😉

Video tape them, then take the tape to the police station and file a formal complaint.

With it being daylight at night here in AK it shouldn't be too much trouble getting qaulity footage at 1am.

This is the kind of reply I was looking for. I'd come and help, but it's 99 hours, 42 minutes for me to drive to Whitehorse, YT, so I'd be another 15 hours or so to get where you live.

Anyway, cap those little kids. They won't see it if you hide well enough (I know it's light outside). Then they won't be able to go outside.

Thank you! I watched movies last night. Shut it off at 9:45PM, thanks very much.

There's a huge diff b/t music/movies, and explosives/ racing cars and such up and down the street at all hours of the night!

Sheesh; you watch movies and suddenly you're lumped in w/the undesireable crowd. 😛 😉

Have you attempted to speak with them(your neighbors) in person about the situation. Sometimes a mature conversation and powerful handshake go along way towards getting people to do what you want. As far as calling the cops........its most likely going to encourage the kids to be louder in order to spite you and your grumpy old man attitude.

Overall I just think your a grumpy whiner but i suppose you are entitled to reasonable sound levels after 10 pm

People who are capable of having mature conversations don't let their kids shoot off fireworks at 2am, and don't yell and scream all night.

Those people are psychopaths.

I feel your pain. 🙁 My neighbors are constantly yelling at each other at the top of their lungs with all sorts of obscenities. 🙁 Just because of them, we're not going to start making babies until we move somehwhere else because it would be such a bad influence on them growing up.

yeah, just let drug dealers, loud kids at 12am, and anyone else do what they want, don't rat them out! they might shoot you 😀 that goes for anyone else, don't ever complain about what's going on in your neighborhood, you have no right to

Are you crazy? 12:30 at night is way too late to be having fun with fire works. I would be calling the cops every time they starting screaming and being loud that late at night.
