calling the comic book people

So....I've got a couple boxes of comic books from when I was collecting them back in the early 90's. I need to get rid of them, and being that I'm several years out of the loop, was wondering if those of you currently familiar with the Industry could point me in the right direction.

I found this comics book price guide and was wondering how accurate, or trusted it is. I'm also wondering what all of this "CGC" is, as I don't remember any kind of official certification procedure to obtain maximum value for each comic--seems rather ridiculous to me, but I guess a lot has changed. CGC seems to double the "value" of each book compared to the same book of the same quality, but without the certification.

I don't have anything too valuable, but a few decent books. This is stuff from the early 90's, and a bit earlier. The first years of Image, some early Valiant books, of course tons of Marvel from that era (the new X-Men series w/ Jim Lee, Spider-Man, etc. Uncanny books mostly focused on Bishop...you get the idea)

Any tips? best way to estimate value for these, and where I should (and shouldn't) consider selling?

Thanks.

I would go on ebay and search through the auctions that have already ended for the given book you are looking for. Should give you a pretty good idea assuming you don't have anything to obscure.

the CBPG is only good as the person buying. i have found its usually about %20 of what it claims. UNLESS the buyer is a hardcore comic b ook guy.

try comic book stores. they sometimes have a board where you can put them up for sale. if not try EBAY or FSFT or give them to me!

Thanks. I was going to take my list to some comic book store, once I find one, to see if I can get a good comparison. I've noticed on that same website that the maximum value seems to be about 70% more than what most people have listed those books for sale.

I also remember most comic book dealers being quite shady....so not sure how much I want to rely on them, seeing as how I've been out of it for so long; not knowing if some dogshit book I purchased back in those days is not invaluable, for some strange reason....

Don't bother. Those titles are now practically worthless.

Sad but true. There are still a few books from this era that might bring a little money. However overall the 90s stuff isn't worth the actual price on the cover of the book.

I have a ton of 90s comics too, and they are impossible to sale. A local comic book store didn't even want them.

90's = haha 🙁

i have a small stack of early 90's stuff too. i wonder if spawn #1 or the first appearance of carnage are worth anything. :/

pretty much what I've seen. seems the most valuable I have is Uncanny 266--whatever 1st Gambit is. Hell, Spawn 1 seems to be worth less than Spawn 10, or even some other Spawn series that are 3 years old :|

Carnage, Bishop 1st appearance seem to be max $30...but I'm guessing would be a 10 dollar sale, at the most.

That freaking Alpha Flight book (what a worthless series), where Northstar announces that he likes dudes...is back to cover price, it seems. That shit was upwards of $50, supposedly, back when it came out.

Though, I do have a Turok #1, and two of those X-O Manowar (w/ Turok) signed by Bart Sears (he was visiting, so he signed it for me). Not sure how to price something like that....

yeah books from the 90's were massed printed. this was the time everyone and there brother was trying to get #1's that might be worth money.
