That's adorable. Yes, you can use a slip stitch, I'd personally use an overcast stitch because I can do it neatly a lot faster.

Thanks nanette. Ill check out overcast stitch as well.
That site also mentions whipstitch for stripes. Is that good and easy to learn?

Yes. Do a couple of practice stitches so that you have an idea how you want them to look. You'll be fine. Interesting site BTW. Thanks.

Thanks, I think I'm a lot more confident that this will be reasonably successful. :D
