Calling on one of ATOT's police officers

I don't know if Brad still posts here but I thought there were other officers who did and I looked at this charge in the records part of my paper today and went 'WTF?'.

The charge is "warrant for gathering where drugs are used".

Does this seem odd to anyone else? I'm sure there's a technicality somewhere that explains it, but its odd to me. It's in the state of Iowa.

I think the law is designed to go after people who own clubs and don't even try to eliminate the drug use. Either that or it was ment to stop the rave movement of the 80's 90's.

Either way the law makes sense. If you sponser a party you must make a resonable attempt to stop drug use durring the party, and if you don't this law applies.

So basically you are guilty of this if you throw a big party, and someone shows up with a joint.

It's to discourage people using this in places where it may be accepted/not reported. Similar to back in school when you could get in trouble sometimes for watching a fight. By being around it you are encouraging it indirectly.

Yes, its your party you have to keep control. Same way if a underage person were to show up. You could get in trouble.
