Calling on ATI users again

Catalyst Control Center............what the hell?

Before when i had my 7900GT Windows booted up in about 5-6 bars (about 7 or so seconds), but now that im using a X1800XT and have installed CCC, it boots up in 9-10 bars (about 12 seconds).........and when i finally do log into windows, the desktop is slow and not that zippy for about another 5 seconds (whereas when i had the 7900GT, i could open a folder, Firefox or anything else instantly upon log in)

Is this normal? Is CCC that big of a RAM/CPU hog? Anyway to load faster with it?

CCC is ****** slow. it sucks. use ati tray tool.s that what i do. +
in fact for me CCC opened uped in around 3 minutes afeter clicking on the button so i'd say your is rather faster.
remove CCC

you think YOU'VE got it bad....

It's even WORSE with crossfire. Takes 15 seconds for my PC to be useable once the taskbar shows. I have nothing else @ startup -- this always happens even with a fresh install. Very annoying. Please, ATI -- drop that shiz!

unless u have oblivion for which u need ccc to be able to use the chuck patch with AA+ HDR settings!

good luck, choice is up 2 u to forego once in a while slowness or play oblivion at max eye candy!!!

You can use ATT to force AA and other settings. I'm using it with the chuck patch and it works.

OK, so i installed ATI Tray Tools and uninstalled CCC. I then installed ATI Tool to take the place of ATI Overdrive (in CCC). Well ATI tool is giving me crap in return. It wont detect my current clock speeds, it crashes everytime i try to apply the correct speeds.

Is there another tool out there that i can use to overclock my X1800XT......one that isnt as crappy and hate filled as ATI Tool?

from my exp. ATI tool doesn't work with new catalist 6.6 drivers
ppl say that you need use 6.3 to be able use atitool - correct me here if I'm off ...

I try to figure out the same thing too ...

I use it with 6.6 just fine, although I need to disable the temperature monitoring or it goofs up every now and then. Make sure you have the 0.25 beta 14 version. As for the crashes, it may be because you're trying to set the 3D speeds with the 2D mode's voltages. That happened to me the first time I used it.

Rivatuner is also supposed to work for overclocking these cards, although it won't let you adjust the voltages.

Well i got ATI Tool working now.

One more question.........can i delete the file that the ATI drivers use to automatically switch from 2D to 3D, or do i have to disable the process under task manager everytime i restart my computer?

Who reboots their system more than once a month anyway?

I do, I turn off my pc when i'm not using it the whole day. Why turn it on all year?

So you don't have to waste your life away waiting for those 12-second boots!

Crazyfool why are you arguing about personal preference? If someone doesn't like how much CCC impacts startup time then they use ATT and problem solved, do you really need to argue about this?

dear god i think i need help.
everytime i see a post with that avatar i instantly spot it as akyshty (the guy who thought x1900xtx was crap) i was just about to post a witty remark but the i saw the name.

anyway 6.6 and atitool and ati tray tools gave me some major problems. my fan would turn off mid gamplay and tempo spiked to the 125+ C level. then iremoved ati tool and re-installed windows.

tray tools has an OCing function so use that if you must. don't use both togather.

LOL, I was wondering when someone would do that.

I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner. 😉
