Calling monitor gurus (21" EIZO)

Just bought a second hand 21" EIZO F77 (the model that looks as if someone has showed it into a wall). I have two problems with it, one major and one minor that I can live with:

1) The image is slightly blurred at all resolutions and refresh rates! Especially so at the edges. I have tried to adjust the various settings in the monitors menue, but the best I can come up with is the Auto setting. I downloaded a proggie from EIZO (Screen Manager I think it was called) but to use it I need to plug in a cable in the monitors Maintainance Port and the com port. If i get this cable, would this program enable adjustments that could cure the blurrieness?

2) There is visible banding on the screen (don't know the technical word for it). This appears at all resolutions but more at some. Changing refresh rate does very little here. I know there is a setting in the monitor's menue that allows me to adjust this, but fiddling with it only makes the screen more blurry and doest very little about the banding. Is there anything I can do about this?

I'm using a V3, latest drivers, the right monitor is installed (not plug and play). Have also seen the monitor a S3 PCI card, which gave the same result.

I've had Very good luck with Nanao or Ezio monitors...
The maintainance port may help, not sure...
How is the Monitor Connected?? Sub-D or BNC?? what's the Resolution and Refresh??

Eizo or Nanao monitors are of the very best quality. Be sure you're using a BNC cable. It sounds like it needs some professional adjusting. Maybe a call to Eizo tech support will produce some answers for you.

OK, I called up their main office and got connected to a technician right away. He told me to look up the serial# and that it might still be under their three year warranty! I dont even need a receipt! He also told med that the Maintenance cable + proogie would not help in this case. I must say I'm very impressed by their customer support.

Sub-D or BNC? I suppose one of them has separate plugs for the three colors and the other is the "unified" (standard) connector. I have the latter. Is that alright? That's what I've always used.

Thanks for the reply!

BNS is much better.

Sounds like a color convergence problem. Either that or the focus / elliptical correction.

My monitor is due to be opened and adjusted. Gotta love adjusting the actual beam. I can change the color convergence on the horizontal and the vertical, and also the top vertical and bottom vertical separate as well as a unified veritcal. That is with the menu. Using the screws internally I can adjust it both horizontal and vertical in three bands and 5 columns. I can adjust intensity for each of those blocks, the focus, the eliptical correction. Basically if I wanted I can completly calibrate it. Of course i do have to open it up, and it does void the warranty if I mess it up.
