i've known people to put in their two weeks right when they went on a pre approved two week vacation.

Some companies have the policy that you must work your entire two weeks or you will be fired. Probably best to use the sick days then turn in two weeks if possible.
If they fire you claiming cause, even after you give 2 weeks notice, then they'll have to cash you out in full pre-payroll and you could file for unemployment. If you're sick, you're sick. The OP should consult his union rep, not AT, for why they don't give full pay for sick days.

I did that at my last job... I called out sick on the second to last day I was supposed to work. I was legitimately sick and *no one* believed me. I showed up the last day with a fever and barely able to talk just to prove that I was sick. heh.

I wouldn't call in sick, especially since I would be moving to another department within the same company(that is what I understood from your post).

I was thinking the same thing. If it is the same company, I'm sure they'd find out and it could make you look pretty bad. Either way you go, it is a sucky predicament to loose what you earned or get it 1/2 off.

Put it this way, before I opened the thread, I was wondering how sick you were, and was going to base my response on that.

Is that true??? I have the max. of 45 sicks day I haven't used. That's bling bling to me if I really get paid for that. I doubt that's true because the people I know that have quit didn't get paid for their unused sick days.
