Have you ran into any specific overclocking problems on this particular board?

I was totally unsuccesful at finding stability with only very average overclock of up to 4.2GHz on my 3770K (there's a thread floating around in OC section) and I just couldn't nail it no matter what funky stuff I tried. People suggested too low vcore, but nothing seemed to help.
I even got to the point of wanting to RMA the memory, thinking compatibility problems.

Lately I tried somewhat different approach and it seems to work. I have no idea what's behind it, but it seems IMC (system agent?) voltage is what kept kicking my ass.
Default value is 0.925V, right? Well, for 4.2GHz I need 1.025V to be stable. Maybe my standards are a bit too high as "stable" means 24 hours of Prime95 without error.
I didn't stop there though, but it's a bit early to elaborate on that subject. I am still testing and testing, hoping to find what the true limits of my CPU really is without going to extremes.

So...
Is it just me or is this particular board somewhat special or picky or something?

You're confusing me. What are you replying to?
I was curious about the 1.2 claim, because the default value IS 0.925V, at least with 3770K.

"Everybody knows this" is a bit wild claim, considering it's not backed up by any google search results from any source.

default is 1.2. for 4.2 you need 1.2 or so
No it's not. 1.2 volts is Intel's max spec for air cooling.

To the OP, I own that board, but you asked for Ivy discussion only and I currently run a 2700K, so I won't have a whole lot to add.

Nope. Way better than the absolute POS Asrock Pro4 I tried.
Got my 3570K to 4.5GHz easy.

idle 0.880-0.920
load 1.240-1.234=4.5GHz
1.295V for 4.7GHz
Thats with the llc maxed out.
4.5GHz seems to be the best setting any higher you need to increase your vcc over 1.31+ to avoid whea events.

Hmm... Me is confused. Could it be down memory specifics after all? Noone seems to have run into this, and OC guides only briefly mention the possibility of raising IMC by tiny bit helping memory overclocking... I run mine on default.

To the OP, I own that board, but you asked for Ivy discussion only and I currently run a 2700K, so I won't have a whole lot to add.
On another thought - share your knowledge sir. I was more interested in IB because (correct me if I am wrong) I believe those secondary voltages are CPU/generation specific.
My memory is Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1866C9.

Can't say much. I just left everything on auto and put the multi at 45.
