calling all xbox modders

Hey guys,

I installed the chip and have rechecked/resoldered all the connections and i get the same result.
With the modchip disabled the xbox works fine. With the modchip enabled (all swtich configs) the
box boots up with a green light but no display and then after a few seconds goes to a solid orange
light. If i hit the cd eject button the light blinks green for a bit as if its accessing the cdrom drive but
then goes back to orange after a bit.

Anyone got any advice ?

get the most recent bios. i had a problem similar to this.

you MUST have the most recent one and make sure the bios is flashed properly.

If the bios doesnt fix it than i'm pretty sure you messed up the solder job so

Buy a new Xbox.
Get someone else to fit a chip.
Don't mess with it.
You are not as smart as your mom said you are.
Get over it and move on with your life.

Ya, If it is not flashing green like he said it goes from solid green to flashing orange so I think hes ok.

Solder points are to the T, despite the conflicting installation instructions.
I used the pin header install found here: http://www.consoleworld.gr/mod...ecuter%202.6%201.6.htm
A variation i found that results in the same error is switching the black wire from the bottom R8R1 pin to the top one,
I believe both are probably ground. In anycase that doesn't change anything. I am trying to flash the bios in the first place,
and am having this result. Again, the xbox boots with no display, the activity light is solid green for the first 20seconds then goes
solid orange indefinitely. If i press the cd eject button the light goes from solid orange to blinking green but then returns to solid
orange after 10 or so seconds.

The only thing i can think of is that the cromwell bios isn't on there or is somehow corrupt, in which case i would need to figure
out how to reflash the chip. I'm not sure how to hot swap this as the only other modded boxes I have are 2.2/2.3's on earlier version
xbox's. I suppose i could try and figure this out, but its likely going to be a pain. Thanks to those of you who actually tried to help.

also i'm using the evox m8_1_6 bios, but this is irrelevant because i can't tell whether
its even prompting me to try and flash the bios from cromwell. I assume the initial flash
procedure is the wait for the light to flash red green then the cdrom tray will pop out. No
clue if this is still the way it operates. I've tried sticking a disc with the appropriate dummy file
and bios.bin file while the xbox has the chip disabled then turning it off and enabling the chip,
but i get the same green to orange light and when i try and press A on a control pad i get nothing.
