OK, I am frustrated now! I've tried paperport for the last two days and still have no clue on how to set this thingy up. Basically, I just want to scan the pics and save it as JPEG file. By default, it stores image as bitmap file, which is too large a file for me. I know the advantage to the bitmap file is that I can change color setting and have some other effect on the picture. But I really don't need all this. Also, I want to be able to store the file to the destination of my wish...how do I set this thing up? Sorry, I am new at this.

RTFM means read the effin manual. Sorry, I don't really know how to help you. 🙁 But can't you convert the files into jpg until you figure it out?

Does it have a TWAIN Driver? U caould just scan it into photoshop that way, and save it as a JPEG.
That's how we do it at work

but I don't have photoshop.....where can I download that?
by the way, I used to use photoshop, and I can it has built-in scanning program, if so, why are you still using paperport?

<< u can't scan directly to compressed image. bmp isn't compressed to my knowledge.. better quality😛 >>

Well, it actually scans it into photoshop as a temp file, then u work on it, and save it from there. 😉

I am using PP 8.0 with Win XP so I don't know if the menu items are all the same.

After opening PP there is a SCAN icon on the tolbar, if you choose that option a toolbar on the left should appear. The toolbar has a Settings hyperlink which lets you choose the type of extension.

Had the same problem. Once you scan the image into paperport, you need to go to file and then export. From there you can select what type of image you want to save it as. 🙂

yep, u cant scan directly to image form (like jpg), like hp scanner software does. but i like paperport better. most of the time i scan to archive and print

I just save all my stuff as bitmaps when I first scan them. I use a great little program called xnview to convert all my pictures to what ever format I want. It is free, fast, and easy to use. It als0 can do different kinds of batch processing. I wasn't impressed with the software that came with my visioneer scanner, I found it easier to just convert them than try to figure out the confusing mess of options.
