I need a favor from you guys, and I would be so greatful. Those of you who have lost coast, please run the "stress test" and post your results, along with system componants (if they are not in your sig). I'm getting about 52 FPS in it and I think my CPU is holding me back. From my understanding, all source games are CPU limited more than GPU. So what I'm trying to gather here is enough info to help me decide on what CPU to get. I pretty much only play source. Thanks in advance guys! 🙂

I got 75fps with all the eye candy turned up and at 1680x1050. Not sure if this really helps since I got opposite hardware from you but hey.

i got 85 fps @12x10 with 4aa/16af

3700 newark @2.7ghz
DFI NF4x
1gb Corsair XMS
120gb Seagate
7800gt @500/1200

edit: i'll underclock my 3700 and post the results later.

Update: underclocked my 3700 to 2ghz with the same IQ settings...75fps
 
Edit: I just got 103FPS after some overclocking of both the GPUs and the CPU.

GPUs now at 575/850 (stock is 550/790)
CPU is now at 2.52 GHz (stock is 2.2 GHz)

Yes it is on the main menu after checking.

My avg framerate was 106.31 with rig in sig (click link for rest of rig)

Thats with 4xAA/16xAF, TRSS, Gamma AA, 1680x1050, XTreme-G 91.37 (because I refuse to switch to the 91.36/91.45
And at 690/1700 🙂
 
I just got about 99.99 FPS with my system, also with Azeureus downloading a couple of torrents in the background. I will run again when I dont have as much stuff going on (Dont know how much of an effect that would really have). Resolution was set at 1680x1050, 4x Anti-Alaising, 16x Ansiostropy, Driver Settings to high quality. I am using the Xtreme-G 91.45 drivers.

Specs are -

Athlon64 San Diego 4000+, overclocked to 2.604Ghz
Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard
2gb of Crucial PC3200 DDR
XFX 7950GX2 570m edition, at stock speeds (570Mhz/775Mhz)
 
with max settings- 6xaa,16xaf ,and HDR on I got
640x480 58.64
800x600 58.22
1024x768 57.61
1280x 58.04
1600x1200 57.26
CPU limitied I guess?

I also need something faster.

Edit: i'm also cpu limited in F.E.A.R

I got 106 with1680x1050 4xAA/16xAF/TRSS/Quality (all Optimizations)/ etc.... (with rig in sig)

Edit:
You know what?? It migh be CPU limited. Maby if I crank it up it might stay as fast.

I play every source game with those settings. Funny thing is I actually enable vsync WITHOUT triple buffering on HL2 single player cos the damn thing never goes below 60 fps lol

cpu limited maybe? 7800gs isnt THAT much faster than a 7600gt

 
I always thought a AMD 3500 would trounce my cpu!? 3.06@3.35 533 fsb
Edit: My 7800gs @499,1.4 is running way past 7800gtx speeds (430core. 1.2 memory)
