thank you to the well wishers.
i knew it was time to make a change when i realized how much i can feel a flight of stairs.
but the real deciding factor is....
on the 12th of this month, i am going to Visit VeggieFrog for 20 days. I was actually TERRIFIED at the thought of being locked in the airport and on the plane without a cig for all those hours....
She is a non smoker, her fiance is a non smoker, as is my ex hubby is a non smoker as is just about everyone over there that i will be around. i have always been a considerate smoker in public, but my house is my house and i light up at will. i do not think it is right for me to do that in the homes of others.
Plus, I have seen VeggieFrog come to tears with upset while begging me to quit.
so, it is time. I am sooooo addicted that i know i cannot just quit. physical and emotional addiction. it will take me time and i am ... cut down by half... i am half way there.
I love to smoke, dont get me wrong. i love the taste, the smell, the feeling of satisfaction i get when i smoke... crazy i know, but aftert 30+
years... it is the truth.
but i know it is time to make a serious change. so here i go.

That is exactly what I said for the past 10 years when every reformed smoker i spoke to gave me crap. and ya know what? it is true. when you are ready... you will quit and not a minute before.
I stopped smoke three times previous. when i was nursing frog over 20years ago, one for 3 months in 1989 and then for three months in 1994. All three times I quit, i did it for someone else. i missed it, and still wanted to smoke. i was not ready.
when you are ready, you will quit for you... no one else.

Quitting is easy. Not starting back up is the hard part. I quit many a time during my 12 years as a smoker. I've been smoke free now for 8 years though. Good luck, if you need a support group lmk.

I quit in the spring after 20 years of two packs a day.
It was very very difficult for me. I have a very bad addiction. It is still a small challenge every day...but it is getting easier.
