OK, I am frustrated now! I've tried paperport for the last two days and still have no clue on how to set this thingy up. Basically, I just want to scan the pics and save it as JPEG file. By default, it stores image as bitmap file, which is too large a file for me. I know the advantage to the bitmap file is that I can change color setting and have some other effect on the picture. But I really don't need all this. Also, I want to be able to store the file to the destination of my wish...how do I set this thing up? Sorry, I am new at this.

After you scan the image you use the File/Export menu. You can select from about a dozen different formats, including jpg.

Well, I can't choose export as an option, only import is available. I click on other sample pics, both import and export are available..
what's my problem?

emjem is right, and something seems odd about your lack of an "Export" option, also that PaperPort is using .bmp as it's default format. Doesn't seem like my PaperPort. Tell us more.
