I played a couple of their songs for a few of my friends who are techno fans, but they all bashed them saying that they sucked and that there was no rythym to any of their music. Not liking someone is one thing, but criticizing the structure of someone else's music is quite another. Anyone have any factoids that I can throw up to them to demonstrate they don't know what they are talking about.
 
there is rhythym, just not a constant beat. It's industrial-metal music, not techno 😉 if any of them like metal and techno, they should like it. If they want real industrial, play some Skinny Puppy songs, like Smothered Hope and Tin Omen
 
Well you can't group all forms of electronic music into a "techno" genre. Techno is 1 form of electronic music, but there are tons more. Industrial is definitely 1 subset, but I think it's more of a niche market. It does take some getting used to.
 
Pay no attention to those people. Bashing any music without listening thoroughly is quite ignorant. There is far more to most music than you will comprehend from one listening. It's the same as meeting a person. You can't judge people on first impressions can you? No. Same with music. The more you listen to it, the better you get to know it, and the more things you notice about it. Different music is meant for different purposes, different cultures, etc.

KMFDM is one of my favorite bands. Don't expect people to like them, though. As one of my friends put it, KMFDM is an acquired taste. It takes a special kind of person to enjoy "the ultra-heavy beat".

As a side note, damn I can't wait for ATTAK to be released!!

I'm a techno fan and I like KMFDM
 
sometimes you just need one song to like a whole band. play some mono-beat heavy songs for them, like off of the KMFDM album, megalomaniacal etc.

I never liked them myself until I went to a show. That was intense.

Or even JJJ. I got my mom hooked on that song. 😀 Seriously.
 
Yeah, I wouldn't really classify KMFDM as "techno". They're different than pretty much any other band out there in their sound and style, which is one of the reasons I like them so much. Hell, I'm sitting here listening to the Adios album right now, still one of my favorite albums out there. I still like KMFDM a lot more than MDFMK, but oh well.
