What the fuck dude! You have damage, we told you there was damage and you didn't fucking listen? WTF! You ignored those that have some knowledge of knee injuries and you ignored it? WTF!

We said lay the fuck off of it and see a doctor. You didn't. I have no pity for you completely fucking up your knee.

Dude, relax. As I said, I didn't push it. I simply jogged lightly on it. The next occurring injury came when I wasn't even jogging, but afterwards while walking. Its clear that I didn't injure it there, it just proved I had injured it. Whew... relax man. No need to get all pissed off.

I'm not getting pissed off. I'm pissed at you asking the forums for what you should do and totally ignoring the very sound answers at trying to help you.

I didn't ignore them, I took them under consideration and for the most part followed them. The only way in which it differed was that I jogged/tested the knee a little bit because it did feel better. As I've said before, what I did Thursday night probably doesn't have any relevance to the injury I've sustained. It simply illuminated the fact that I do have an injury.

My ortho sez he has better success with cadaver grafts than he does with patellar grafts...AND the healing time is far less.

After 2-3 years, the replacement ACL should be as strong as the original was before it was FUBAR'd.

You've also mentioned problems with the cartilage...How bad is the meinscus? It sounds to me, since the pain came from jogging, not any particular bend or twist, that you may have damaged the cartilage rather than the ACL.

By some strange coincidence, I did something to my FUBAR'd knee over the weekend. Not sure what, but it's been hurting like a motherfucker since Saturday. I can walk on it ok, but I have difficulty (and great pain) when I try to lift & bend the knee. Hurts in the same place I've been bitching to my ortho about for 5 years, only this time, it's far more severe than it's been in a LONG time.
I've been taking ibuprofen and naproxen to help with pain and reduce inflammation, plus, alternating heat & ice packs periodically during the day.
I'll give it a few days to see how it does before I call and insist on yet another appointment...

I have partially discoid meniscii and meniscal tears on both lateral meniscii. My meniscus will occasionally slip out and lock my knee up severely restricing the rang of motion as you describe. I have to take ibuprofen and sit still for 4-8 hours and eventually it slips back in.

Doc says knee replacement by 45, so I've got that foing for me...

You should wander over into the Health and Fitness forums. We can help you a bit more in there. However, running on it so soon after was a terrible idea. Joints are a bad thing to mess with and you should have taken some time off and iced it and strengthened it. You need physical therapy before you even try to continue playing. I can give you more suggestions, but I feel like it will drown in the rest of the OT banter so if you're serious about it, post this in the health and fitness forum.

My ortho sez I NEED a knee replacement...but that I don't hurt badly enough yet to justify it...

I remember my doctor saying awhile back that I'd eventually need knee replacement as well. Do they make bionic knee's yet? Cause I really want one of those!

Yeah, he said I should put it off as long as possible. the replacements wear out and they're making better ones all the time so the longer you can do without the better.

knee replacement is a painful thing you want to put it off as long as possible. Additionally, they wear out, so you need to repeast the process every 10 years or so. Go without as long as you can!!

Me either...but on the days when it hurts so fucking bad that I can barely bend it...I gotta wonder if the knee replacement wouldn't hurt less in the long run.

Gah, I'm not looking forward to a knee replacement.

In the meantime, you can go to a physical therapist, strengthen everything around the knee, and live a much more satisfying life. Seriously go to the doctor and get a prescription for it. It will help you get back to sports and will decrease the rate at which your knee goes south.

UPDATE

Its been a few days since I posted this thread, but I wanted to update my situation and get a few more opinions if I could. Seems like there are some very knowledgeable people here.

I took ibuprofen and went out with my team. It actually felt pretty good while running/jogging on it. I thought maybe it wasn't anything major, but while jogging (not even hard, it was actually when I stopped) I stepped on it lightly and went down hard. Sharp pains just like earlier in the day. That went away after about 15 minutes but that was pretty much it for me. The next day the knee was really sore and range of motion really limited again. I thought that maybe it was just typical soreness and I was going to give it a few days. It didn't get ANY better. In fact, sometimes when walking on it and trying to straighten the knee completely I got the sharp pains and the knee gave out. This is still occurring today. I've already made an appointment with my ortho surgeon, but unfortunately he can't see me until Aug. 25 (which is crazy, IMO). I am not doing anything outside of walking on my leg right now. I have tried a lot of stretching to work it out, but even if it seems to help temporarily, a few hours later its really tight again. It hurts like a bitch when stretching too. I have basically seen no improvement thus far. I walk with my knee bent at about a 25 degree angle. Bending the knee to far in also creates the sharp pains.

At this point I'm getting pretty concerned. I figure the Doc. will look at it and order an MRI. At which point, who knows? Just curious if there is anything else I should be trying/considering at this point. Ice/heat/stretching is in the arsenal. Staying off it aside from necessary movement is also being practiced.

Thoughts?

BTW, Thanks for everyone's help thus far. Even though I know an Ortho will be able to tell me much more, hearing qualified opinions at least puts my my mind to a bit of ease.

hmm, looks like i was right after all. imagine that.

look, stop listening to these jokers in here. they don't know what they're talking about, so forget it. they can't tell you what you tore or whether it's a meniscus or an acl/pcl.

just listen to what i'm saying right here:
buy yourself a really good brace that goes from your mid-thigh to mid-shin. wear that around the house (most injuries occur inside the house, because you feel comfortable with the area and get careless) as well as public. call other good orthopedists in the area and see if you can get a sooner appointment. if you can't, take anti-inflammatories and wait a while... why is it ok for you to use anti-inflammatories now? because it slows down the healing process of your ligaments, and if you did some damage that might need repair, you want it preserved and not developing as much scar tissue as possible. it's easier for them to repair fresh tears as opposed to healed ones.

don't be stupid. the biggest reason NOT to use nsaids when you might have a potential minor tear or other injury is that you think things are ok because it reduces the pain. so, then, you go out and do something like you normally would because you don't think there's a problem (because you don't feel it) and then you end up hurting yourself and send yourself up shit's creek sans paddle.
