Calling all doctors: How come I can eat tons of stuff and not get fat?

I'm 188cm tall and weigh 70kg. I eat a lot of chocolate cookies, Junk food(sandwiches, McD, etc.), I eat NO vegetables, really just unhealthy stuff but I don't get fat nor sick or anything, and that since 20years(will be 21 this summer). How come? When I was in my last high-school year, I ate every day a whole chocolate(100g) before lunch, still not gettin' fat. But I always have to go to the toilet after about 30minutes I ate. Is this normal? 🙂

You must have a a really high metabolic rate then. Wait until you hit 30 and you will get fat if you keep going at that rate.

Also what do you eat for *meals*? Are they nothing or are they decent sized meals? If you eat bad meals with little or no calories then the junk stuff makes up for that stuff.

Just wait until your older then you *should* get fat when your body slows down.

 
You've just got high metabolism. Don't worry, it'll catch up to you and slow down, then you'll be overweight because you can't change your 20 year old eating habits.

Well for meals, it depends. Nothing special, sandwiches or a pizza. But when I'm at home on the weekend, I eat like a .... just a lot 🙂 I had 3 hours ago dinner with my parents, some rice with Ayam Soto (Indonesian dish), and now, I'm hungry again and I'm cooking Spaghettis.

It's called "being lucky". I'm the opposite. I gain weight really easy. By contrast, it takes a lot of work and effort just to lose 5 pounds. And it gets harder the older I get.

your metabolic rate is basically how fast your body breaks down food and gets it to the right places for use in your body. some people do it faster than others. once you get older it just naturally slows down because your activity level may not be as high as it used to be, so it can slow down.

i would suggest you start excercising and eating right or you will gain unwanted weight in a few years.

you eat cereal or something for breakfast everyday, right?
 
Metabolism. I'm much the same way. I can eat and eat and eat, and never break 130 lbs. I don't do any excercise or training of any sort, just sit on my butt all day other than any required walking. My girlfriend notes that I give off an insane amount of heat when I sleep, but I'm not sure how much that has to do with it.

well during the week, I don't eat any breakfast. For lunch, 4 small sandwiches, a pizza or some pasta. And ALWAYS Maltesers, some chocolate thingies 🙂 for dinner, it's always somethin' big that my mum cooks or I just eat a pizza. Sometimes I'm too lazy to eat actually hehe. So it can happen, that it can take 24 hours til I eat again a BIG meal.

we're all gettin' hot if we sleep with our girlfriends 😉

haha so true.

Or I guess the more accurate thing is..people like this with insane metabolisms usually stay skinny when they get old...well, everything but the gut. Skinny body with a massive gut.
 
hm, I think the proper explanation might be this: I'm sometimes so lazy, that I don't eat any dinner. So I don't eat any breakfast, not too much during lunch and sometimes, no dinner at all. That's how my "food-plan" looks like during the week, but on the weekends, it's totally different. I always eat breakfast, lunch and a biiiiiiig dinner. So this might be it, no? I also go to sleep sometimes, although I feel hungry, and would actually like something to eat, but just being to lazy to get something. That's my recipe for stayin' skinny 🙂
