Im pretty bummed out little information there is out there about laptop LCD display quality. Firstly, there are no specs, just marketing hype names(truelife, xbrite, etc.). So Im looking for some subjective opinions on the quality of these 17" WUXGA monitors.

A few specific inquiries:

1. Hows the color compare to a desktop LCD? Or if you dont have a desktop LCD, how do you feel about the color in general?

2. Hows the response time? Do games and fast scenes blur in any noticable way?

3. Hows the contrast? Can you get dark blacks and really bright whites in the same scene?

Thanks a lot, I really appriciate it.

Also, if anyone has any information on who manufactures the panel that would also help, as we could find the specs for these screens.

Again, thanks.

From what I gather at Notebookforums, the WUXGA screens can be from Samsung or LG.

Not sure if these are the correct models, but Samsung and LG-Philips only have one 17" WUXGA screen listed.

I have a Dell 9300 with the WUXGA 19x12 truelife display. I think the color reproduction is quite good, its responce time in gaming is satisfactory with moderate to slight blurring in only certain situations. Contrast and brightness is excellent. It should be noted though that the truelife display surface is somewhat reflective (like all displays with this technology) and can be a bit annoying under certain lighting situations. I dont have a clue who the mfgr. of this display is for Dell, but I am in general pleased with it. DVD movies look great on it.

It is true, the reflective-ness can be quite annoying. Otherwise I'm happy with mine for games and DVDs.
