Caller ID, it's weird. Remember the days you wouldn't know who was calling it was anon? Whats better knowing whos calling or people knowing your calling or like the good ol' days where it could've been anyone at the phone when you picked it up? I personally think it should be abolished it ruins the excitement of a phone call.

Lets me avoid people I don't want to talk to. I like it. :) Also, its good when you're gonna call someone back but forgot their number.

I hate phones :), I never answer the phone anyways unless it's my Mom inviting me over for some good grub :)

She realized the best way to reach me is via email or IM so she does it that way now :). I could live in a phoneless
house without missing anything!

half the time it doesnt even show whos calling (shows up as unkown, or cell phone, etc)
so i consider it pretty useless.

keystroker, to be honest, unless it's someone I know, I don't pick up the phone, let 'em talk to my answering machine :)

Some of us who need to know, find no amusement in the anonymity. I want to talk to my friends and relatives, but lately, too many calls are people who want money, making my family cringe when the phone rings. We don't have caller id, or an answering system....cant afford those right now. We do find amusement in, when the phone rings, we do the creditor boogie. ;)

That's what you get for owing too much money.

I have "call & name display" along with message manager, but it is quite useless with most nuisance calls showing up as "out of area long distance" or simply "out of area". With caller ID and answer service I never have to answer the damn thing anymore, plus it set to ring 3 times so it won't ring endlessly either. My mom has a special ring and that's about the only LD call I answer. If it's important enough to call 5 times a day they can leave a mes.

I love my cell's caller ID. I like having the freedom to ignore my phone (I have an ignore button on my cellphone that will stop the phone from ringing) if I don't want to talk to the person at the moment. Screening my calls has been one of the most exciting thing sinced ... well, getting my cellphone. :)

I don't have it, and it's fine, I really don't mind, but next to talking to someone in person, I prefer talking on the phone, all the IM programs and email do come in handy, but it's just so impersonal.

Its kinda convenient. I dont have it, though. The first few times ive called a friend on his cell he would pick up and start talking already knowing who i am, took me a few times untill i realized he had callerID or something like that. Also another friends home phone, her own line must have callerID because when i call on my cell if the house line is being used I dont get picked up, but i do when i call from a known number......so it CAN work against you..
